The Woolgar lab has recently welcomed several new MPhil students to the group. Nana, Jana and René are all reading Cognitive Neuroscience and will explore various research questions using data generated within the group. We're excited to welcome them to the CBU!

Nana Cheung has a background in psychology and neuroscience that she will apply to her masters. She is interested in decision-making and executive control. Her current research project, supervised by Dr. Lydia Barnes, focuses on investigating the roles of attention, working memory, and visual representation in fluid intelligence.

Jana Tomastikova is returning to us after her first visit as a summer student in 2023. Jana is interested in how attended information is represented in the brain, and what happens when regions that support selective attention are compromised. She is working with Nadene, exploring how damage to the MD system affects ability to prioritise task-relevant information using collected MEG data.

René Tinz has a background in experimental psychology and statistics and is interested in the mechanisms by which the brain implements attentional and cognitive control processes. He is working with Jade, using MEG data to research the dynamics of task switching. Additionally, René is assessing trials to understand the neural representations in data when a participant makes an error.
