Robotically-guided brain stimulation coming soon to the CBU

Thanks to a successful funding application to the MRC, we will soon have use of a high-precision robotic aid for Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS). The Axilum TMS-Cobot will help us to be even more reliable and accurate in the application of TMS, which is used to investigate the function of individual brain regions and their contribution to brain-wide networks. Existing TMS procedures typically rely on manual placement of the stimulator, which can be difficult to maintain for long periods of time, or across more than one session. We have lots of exciting experiments planned throughout the CBU, from basic level studies of cognitive function to the testing of new clinical interventions for a variety of patient groups.
